Hello and thank you all your thoughts and prayers over the past 6 weeks as I have begun my fight against cancer.
The outpouring of support for my family and me has been amazing and has been a huge encouragement during this tough time. It is clear that everyone wants to help me fight this. There are so many people that say “If there’s anything I can do for you or your family, anything at all, just ask.” So far it’s been hard to connect things we need help with to the people who want to help. Today we are trying to make that easier.
We’re compiling an email list of folks who would like to help. When something comes up we’ll send out an email about it.
This might include things like:
Providing a meal
Driving to a chemo appointment
Babysitting the kids
Taking a walk with Seth to build his strength
Running an errand
Doing a load of laundry or dishes
Dropping off or picking up kids from somewhere.
Physical work outside the house (fall cleanup, pruning, lawn care, gutters, etc.)
Physical work inside the house (moving heavy stuff, general fixing, stuff I used to do but can’t)
When we think of a need, we’ll send a note to the email list. Some will be time sensitive (like a doctor’s appointment) but others might be for any time you’re free. If you want the job, just “Reply All” to the list so everyone else knows it’s covered and we don’t get duplicate helpers. Then we can exchange private email/text to iron out the details. We’ll try to not spam you too often and you can ask to be removed whenever you’d like.
