I had a home visit from the nurse today who changed the dressing on the port in my arm we use to inject my antibiotics each day. They always want to know how my pain is doing…
I can’t remember the last day I was pain free. Normally I hang out in the 3 to 4 range. Yesterday was about the worst pain day I’ve had on this continuum since the whole thing started. It wasn’t pretty.
Today, I feel much better. I’m especially relieved knowing that the doctors expected it to get worse before it gets better and that these antibiotics take about a week to kick in. I started the IV antibiotics a week ago tonight so it’s making sense. I also got more good news on some skin biopsies that were taken at the hospital last week.
Even though I know there could still be lots of pain ahead during this treatment, I’m looking forward to reporting a smile in the coming weeks as we nail this infection and move on to diagnosing whatever else may be there.
A few people have asked for a higher magnification picture of the tumor to take a look at. Get a good look now, we’re hoping the next pictures will show that vertebrae starting to heal and that mass pressing on my nerves to start shrinking.
