All the pictures are taken.

All the blood is drawn.

All the tests are done.

All the bits have been rushed to the lab for analysis.

I was discharged from the hospital to go home last night. My doctors and I agree that I’ll be more comfortable at home in my own bed for the next few days. I’m on a higher dose of pain killers as I recover from yesterday’s surgery to get bone samples to biopsy for pathology.

The biopsy went very well. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for the procedure yesterday. Under sedation, they used a CT realtime to guide a needle and drill through my back and into my S1 vertabrae to get core samples of the degraded bone and tumor. They wanted 3 or 4 samples of material to biopsy. Out of 6 attempts they were able to get 4 samples. They are very happy with how it went.

Now all we can do is wait. The results of this biopsy can take up to a week. We are praying for results before Friday

Each Friday morning there is a meeting at OHSU called the “tumor board” where all of these cases are reviewed and treatment is assigned. If the biopsy is done before Friday, my doctors are prepared to take my case to the board this week which means my treatment could begin as soon as Friday.

This will be an excruciating time of waiting to hear the results.
