Puzzle

A team of doctors at OHSU assembled this morning to discuss my condition.  They do so every Friday morning.  They are called the “tumor board.”  It’s where neurological surgeons can get the input of radiologists and oncologists and pathologists all by sitting down around the same table.  My doctor was to present my case today and ask for input from the assembled team.

He dumped all of the puzzle pieces on the table (my history, the blood work, the x-rays, the MRIs, the CT scans, the ultrasounds, the biopsies).  The goal was for the group to put all of the pieces together and form a complete picture of my diagnosis and treatment options based on their training and experience in their respective areas of expertise.

Unfortunately, one puzzle piece was missing (and it’s the most important one).  The results of my most recent biopsy are not complete yet.  The lab is still working on my samples.  The good news is that they believe the tissue they have in the lab now is in good condition and that it will be able to lead to a diagnosis next week.  Unfortunately for me, that means another week of waiting.

Please continue to pray for the results of this biopsy.  There is still hope that this tumor is benign and/or treatable.
