What a great way to end my nearly two week hospital stay. I was able to walk (with a little support from my walker for balance) to and from dinner at Marrakesh last night. The kids loved eating with their hands and sitting on the floor.
Today is a busy day of going through all of the discharge paperwork and checklists. I’m going home with many more prescriptions and injections and equipment than when I came in.
After I am discharged from the hospital I have to make a brief visit to OHSU to meet with the neurosurgeon and infectious disease docs to complete the post surgery follow-up. They may also remove the 26 stitches from the 10 inch incision on my back. That’s going to leave a mark!
It is such a relief to be leaving the hospital today to be able to spend time with my family in our home. I think I will rest better and heal up faster at home too. I want to cherish this time for the next week before my cancer treatments begin and zap my energy again.
