Help Portland set a World Record!
A world-record attempt will be made on the Willamette River this summer. On Friday, July 5th, if all goes according to plan, 543 people (more hopefully) will join hands and set a Guinness Book World Record for “Most People in a Floating Line.” The current record was set in 2008 by 542 people in Viareggio, Italy.
Last year, Portland attempted to break the record during The Big Float and fell short. This year’s attempt is a combined team effort by The Big Float, Human Access Project, and World Domination Summit. Now that the logistical issues have been worked out, and permits received from local authorities, the stage is set for Portland to claim this world record honor. All it will take is 543 able and willing humans to take part.
Participants should be able to answer “yes” to the following: you can swim and are comfortable in open bodies of water; you don’t mind holding hands with someone you don’t know; you’re generally awesome and like to work together to accomplish big things.
