A year ago I was in the hospital today. It was about the lowest point in my health. I wasn’t able to walk. They hadn’t discovered the cancer despite 2 biopsies. I was being treated for a life threatening infection in my spine. The neurosurgery floor was full so I was in a bed in what seemed like the basement of the hospital in an overflow area called “5B.” I remember it as a pretty terrible place.

This morning I wake up on a boat floating on the river. I can walk. I don’t have cancer anymore. The infection is well under control. It’s hard to believe how much has changed this year and how lucky I am to be alive. Praise God.
