I got a thumbs up from my neurosurgeon today. The x-rays showed the hardware in my back where the tumor used to be is still in place and the screws are holding. The bone grafts are fusing and there is new bone growth despite being hammered with chemo the last 6 months.
Speaking with him, I’m reminded just how lucky I am to be alive much less able to walk and function as well as I am. I still have numbness from nerve damage that could take up to two years and maybe another surgery to heal but there’s still hope I’ll get more feeling back.
I can’t thank my doctors enough for their work in saving me from this cancer. I have been blessed by God to have an amazing cast of characters in this story.
Tomorrow I have the first follow up with my oncologist.
