Thankfully the doctors have cleared me to go home today. Just because of the hijinks we experienced the last time I was supposed to go home, we ‘re praying for no U-turns during my discharge process this morning.
I’m 2 days into my first chemo cycle and so far I’m still feeling well. My back is continuing to get stronger and pain is slowly subsiding. I was able to walk another mile yesterday and do 88 stairs.
Although I was disappointed to make this extra hospital stop between rehab and home, I’m now certain it was God’s will that it happen. It allowed me to get chemo started a full week earlier than planned on a fast moving cancer (great news). I’m going home much stronger and with no fevers or signs of infection. I’m in a much better state to be able to face life without around the clock nursing care. I’m looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, not eating hospital food, and seeing my family again (although they’ve been troopers coming to visit me here).
