It’s good to be out of the hospital and back home. I’m sleeping much better and enjoying seeing my family again. This week we are settling into our new routine of daily antibiotic injections, home nurse visits, etc.

There should be more news today on blood cultures and other biopsies they’ve performed to determine just how bad this infection might be. I might also hear the timeline for when the infectious disease experts will want to re-image my spine to determine if anything is growing/shrinking/etc.

Overall, this is going to be 6+ weeks of waiting for these antibiotics to take hold. After that, there is probably going to be surgery to get enough tissue to biopsy to determine what else might be going on that the infection is masking.

Yesterday, we made a family excursion out for some pizza and mini-golf. Although the family fun was worth it, my pain level has increased considerably since.
